LANGUAGE OF BUSINESS (LOB)

Today, more leaders are incorporating the triple bottom line concept in their business thrusts. They now concern themselves with their firm’s social and environmental impacts, cognizant of the fact that investing in sustainability initiatives is a social responsibility that can also provide incentives. An MIT study found that companies that firmly practiced sustainability have profited from their sustainable activities.

The Language of Business (LOB) course is designed to equip students with a working knowledge of financing accounting – from preparation to the interpretation of financial statements. The topics will be discussed not only from the traditional approach but also from a sustainability lens within the triple bottom line framework (people, planet, and profit). The overarching objective is to develop leaders and managers not only with financial acumen but also with sustainability values.
