INTRODUCTION TO DATA SCIENCE (DASCI 210)
This course introduces data science and artificial intelligence (DSAI) and digital transformation, properly contextualizing the fields from the point of view of public and private organizations. The course discusses fundamental issues, opportunities, and challenges in DASI using real-world use cases and case studies. The course begins with a comprehensive overview of the DSAI field, which includes the current state of data science and future directions. It then zooms in on specific issues/topics relevant to data science practitioners and leaders: the data science pipeline/workflow, the economics of AI, AI and data strategy, data/AI ethics and governance, and digital transformation.
There are guest talks with Data Science leaders slotted near the end of the course so students can have much more meaningful and in-depth conversations with them.
