Abstract
Tides are natural responses of the ocean to the periodic fluctuations in the tide-raising forces of the moon and the sun. Tidal information is mostly beneficial to coastal navigation, fishing, weather forecasting, and tidal energy harvesting. In the Philippines, tides are monitored and predicted by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority or NAMRIA. Tide observation in the country started as early as 1947 which resulted to vast amount of sea level information that can tell us how the surrounding ocean behaves.
Machine learning is a relatively new field in the country and this study is an attempt to use ML techniques and models to predict tides and answer important research questions. With this data, many insights could be derived to help policy makers, researchers and the general public on decision-making, oceanographic studies, and ocean status awareness.
