The Analytics, Computing, and Complex Systems laboratory (ACCeSs@AIM) is AIM’s first corporate laboratory and the first of its kind in the Philippines. It is envisioned to lead and promote the use of complex systems science, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and computational models to support innovation in industries, government agencies, and other sectors.
Transforming Asian Countries
Guided by the mission of improving the economy of developing countries within the Asia-Pacific region, ACCeSs@AIM spearheads an innovation ecosystem that:
-
- bridges public-private R&D collaboration involving industries, governments, and the academe;
- promotes partnerships that enable faculty, researchers, graduate students, policy makers, executives, and industry decision makers to work on projects that will directly impact businesses, societies and communities; and
- enhances the competitiveness, sustainability, and adaptability of companies with computing and modeling as strategic resources.
Data Science Lab In a Business School
ACCeSs@AIM has been set-up to support and complement the academic programs under AIM’s School of Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (SITE), which is positioned to be a catalyst for generating impact, powering innovation, and creating value in the Asian context.
Solving Real World Problems
Real-world problems, including most industry use cases, are becoming increasingly complex as our world becomes more and more connected and interdependent. More often than not, traditional approaches no longer suffice to analyze and model these complex systems whose observed emergent behaviors cannot be simply described by the sum of its individual parts. ACCeSs@AIM’s expertise is in modeling such systems that require capabilities in the field of complexity science, network science, machine learning, deep learning, and multi-agent systems modeling.
Contributing to the Community
ACCeSs@AIM scientists are equally committed to push the boundaries of science and computing through journal publications by having more than 200 combined academic publications. The research lab also supports the different units at AIM to improve institutional efficiency and productivity. Finally, ACCeSs@AIM research scientists and engineers also help AIM’s Master of Science in Data Science program by mentoring data science students, especially during their industry capstone projects.
World Class Facilities
The ACCeSs lab houses a 1.2 petaflop supercomputer to complement its team’s technical prowess. It is a GPU farm optimized for AI computing, the fastest in the country and one of the fastest in ASEAN.
The lab also maintains a repository of various datasets which includes hazard and mapping data, education data, and social media data.
